OUT OF SIGHT. OUT OF MIND.

The Knysna Sea Horse is the most endangered sea horse in the world.

This “oils on USC” rendition features, in scale, 5 adult Knysna Sea Horse’s, depicted in some of their splendid colours. One adult male is “giving birth”.
The left side features a hatching endangered Leatherback turtle with up to a catastrophic 95% of the population lost.
The right side an equally challenged Loggerhead turtle hatching.
The USC is mounted on the shells of Southern Africa sea pirates most sort after prize, the Perlemoen/Abalone mollusc.
They are surrounded by sea shells and rocks, killer plastic debris and lost fishing tackle.
All are encased in a paradoxical fish tank draped with a gill net.
Many thanks to Lisa Leslie for her Knysna Sea Horse photographic references.
