A Thomson’s Gazelle mother has her heart broken as her newly born offspring is set upon by a juvenile, but almost fully grown, Martial Eagle.
Incredibly the Eagle and the Gazelle are much the same size, if not mass. The mother does everything she possibly can to save her young, but does she prevail?
This incredible scene was captured on video by wildlife photographer Linda Skeen of Wyoming, USA in the Massai Mara National Reserve, Kenya. I am incredibly grateful for the inspiration for my interpretation.
